October 1st-13th 2012

We are mourning the passing of Grandpa Stan, my (Mark) step father. I am grateful that Stan and my mom were able to share love, support, and companionship for so many years, and that Stan was so lovingly proud of his children and grandchildren. As I grew up, Stan's influence and support offered me fresh and helpful perspectives on the world and, quite fortunately, he embraced the love of learning and the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom. More recently, I noticed that Stan's eyes sparkled warmly as he beheld his various grandchildren at the lake house. Amber and I consider ourselves so fortunate that he and my mom welcomed us into their home for Gordon's birth, and we will be forever thankful for this act of kindness and compassion. Indeed, we are particularly saddened by the knowledge that so many grandchildren will have less of an opportunity than we did to know and love Stan.

Below is a photo of Stan and Ella.

Below is Stan walking to get his first look at Gordon after his birth at Stanley and Mary Lou's home.

Berry Patch Farm

Most beautiful view I've ever seen on a farm.  There was snow on the mountains in the distance!

First snow!  October 5th

This is what I came home to after we spent the day at a friends home.  The laundry was done, dinner was ready and the house was clean!  Thanks Nana ; )
