We said goodbye to our temporary housing and rental car. We're starting to feel settled and get on schedule. Ella is signed up for dance class and will start July 11th. We spend hours everyday watching kayakers and floaters on the river while the kids play in the water. We were especially entertained by the people swimming down the river, going head first down the waterfalls!
"Princess" the horse.
Golden hosts a street fair every first Friday of the month. Circus performers, belly dancers, live music, petting farms, free horse carriage rides, food vendors and much, much more fill the main street!
Ella and Gordon watching the circus performers.
Mark joined the Trout Unlimited group to collect water samples for testing.
Ella made a friend at the river.
Do you see the 3 paragliders?
The "M" lights up at night!
The old armory building across the street from our house. Ella calls it the castle. When you look at it from our house it lines up next to "Castle Rock" on South Table Mountain and looks like a replica of the mountain.
Waiting for lunch at the local market on the river.
Drama
Watching the chickens at the outdoor history museum a couple blocks from home. Ella loved seeing the costume interpreters scattered throughout the museum.
Mark trying out the new stroller at the outdoor history museum. We sold our beloved green Phil & Ted double stroller and purchased a bike trailer that can be used as a stroller. We don't have room for both.

Feeding the chickens
Awesome ice cream, made right in Boulder, CO. The sweets shop by our house sells this ice cream and amazing chocolates.
We feel a strong sense of community here in Golden. People are very smiley and friendly, definitely happy to be here. Our mailman knocked on our door to introduce himself and get to know us.
The bike trailer/stroller. We may even put skis on the wheels and pull it cross country skiing. Since we are a car free family now, we needed a bike trailer to pull the kids and groceries. Tomorrow we'll be filling it up at the farmers market a couple blocks away.
Every Saturday, June - October, Golden hosts a farmer's market.
Wood fired pizza
Fruit smoothie
Free horse carriage rides
The tree house is bigger than the house!!
The driver of the horse carriage knew all about the history of the town. He shared some fun facts: he pointed out which houses found gold buried in the back yard when renovations were done. Golden has about 300 days of sun. The driver grew up on the rainy side of Oregon where they have about 300 days of clouds, they also have one of the highest divorce rates according to him. You can definitely feel the positive energy in Golden with all the sunny, dry days. Locals call Golden a "secret" town because it's so close to Denver but not overbuilt and crowded. The town consists of 1/3 female, 2/3 males - all the single ladies come for a visit ; )
I love that you can see the moon above his head.
Roasting chiles
The dogs are pampered in Golden.
I met a lady who grew up in Minneapolis, she's been here for years and said the winters are so mild compared to MN. She and her husband moved back to MN for a couple years and couldn't take the weather so they moved back to CO. The dry, sunny winters should be quite enjoyable ; )
Homemade root beer, bring the bottle back for $1 refills.
Ella, surrounded by vegetables!
We met some of our neighbors yesterday, they have a girl (5) and boy (20) months. She told us about the neighborhood, apparently there are several families with kids Ella and Gordon's age. We feel right at home surrounded by young active families.

I love to see you all looking so tan and happy!
